What is Time in Business?

Time in business is how long your company has been operating, usually measured from its formation date or the date it began generating revenue. Lenders use it as a measure of stability, and many set a minimum requirement. Newer businesses often have fewer options and may rely more on personal credit, collateral or startup-focused programs. Lenders may verify time in business through state filings, tax returns or the age of your business bank account.

Example

A lender requires at least one year in business, so a company formed eight months ago is not yet eligible for that product.
